Music can really add to a trip’s fun. However, as the parent, there are only so many “kids’ songs” you can endure. The trick is to find music you and your child both love. Look at the music you already own (or would like to own), find songs with catchy appropriate words, good rhythm for dancing, and/or great for singing along. Make a playlist or burn a CD with those favorites. Before you know it, your little one will be singing along with you.
Some good ones to start on:
ABC–Jackson 5
Barbara Ann–The Beach Boys
Breakaway–Kelly Clarkson
The Chicken Dance
Crazy Frog–Axel F
Deep in the Heart of Texas–Moe Bandy (gotta plug this one in there for fellow Texans)
Ghostbusters–Ray Parker Jr
I Get Knocked Down–Chumbuwumba
I Wanna Hold Your Hand–Beatles
‘Istanbul (Not Constantinople)’ by They Might Be Giants
La Bamba–Los Lobos
Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey–Steam
Shout–The Isley Brothers
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious–Harry Connick, Jr.
Upside Down–Jack Johnson
We are Family–Sister Sledge
YMCA–Village People

Great songs! With a toddler now, I am definitely on the look out for enjoyable songs for both of us to get on itunes. Thanks!

Glad to help.
I love and use this idea! It is so nice to have music we all enjoy! Some of our favorites include Shrek: All Star, Hit the Road Jack by Ray Charles, Love Me Do and Help! by The Beatles, Raining Sunshine from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Wooly Bully by Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs, Honeypot and Tarantula by Bob Schneider, and Forever by Chris Brown.
Those are great ones. Thanks for sharing!
